Project Opportunities

The proposed project aims to enhance the local and regional walking and cycling recreational network, in particular serving as a link to the South East Greenway, Nore Valley Walks, East Kilkenny Cycle Route and the South Leinster Way. The proposed Greenway has the potential to boost tourism in the area, including increased visitor numbers to Woodstock Estate and Inistioge Village and other local attractions.

Route Corridor Options

Kilkenny County Council has identified a number of route corridor options within the study area, where it is considered a Greenway could be developed. These vary in width due to natural environmental and topographical features. The corridors were established based on initial engineering and environmental assessments, which considered characteristics within the Study Area. They were also informed from feedback received from the first public consultation. The Study Area has been expanded from Phase 1 to ensure that all viable options are taken into consideration.
